Verreauxs sifaka
Verreauxs sifaka (Propithecus verreauxi) on the ground. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Many lemur species are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat destruction. This lemur feeds mainly on leaves, as well as fruit, bark and flowers. On the ground, it moves by hopping in a bipedal fashion. Photographed in the Berenty Reserve, Madagascar
