The dome of St Pauls Cathedral looms over the devastated remains of Cannon Street
The dome of St Pauls Cathedral looms over the devastated remains of Cannon Street the morning after the most devastating raid on London.
The Luftwaffe planned the attack on the city to coincide with a very low ebb tide on the night of the 10th/11th May 1941. 86, 173 incendiaries dropped on the city causing 2136 fires killing 1436 people seriously injuring 1800.
Over 700 acres were destroyed in the fires about double that of the Great Fire of London.
