Captain Scott film poster. This 1913 film told the story of the British Antarctic Expedition (1910-1913), led by Captain Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912). Scott and four others died during their attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole. Other members of the expedition brought back specimens collected and records made, including observations of the wildlife and landscapes. The expedition photographer and cinematographer was Herbert George Ponting (1870-1935), credited at lower right. The film producers were the London branch of the French Gaumont Company.
