Calenick, Kea, Cornwall. Early 1900s
A view of Calenick showing several cottages and the clock tower adjoining Calenick House. Calenick House belonged to Captain Grey in the early 1900s. The clock tower belonged to an important tin smelting works which operated throughout most of the 18th and 19th centuries before closing in 1891. The tin ore was brought from the local mines, and the finished ingots of white tin were shipped from Truro. There are several people standing in the road. Photographer: Ernest Chegwidden
