Hannah Powell-Cotton, wearing her VAD indoor uniform but with a rather unorthodox patterned apron, with her daughters and a friend in the garden at Quex Park. The children are (left to right) Antoinette Powell-Cotton (1913-1997), Mary Powell-Cotton (1019-1998), Elizabeth Worthington (daughter of the VAD Medical Officer Dr Harry Worthington) and Diana Powell-Cotton (1908-1986. The Quex Park VAD Hospital opened on 15 October 1914 and closed on 31 January 1919. The hospital was run by Kent/178, the Birchington Detachment. The Commandant was Hannah Powell-Cotton (1881-1964), wife of Major Percy HG Powell-Cotton (1866-1940) of of Quex Park, founder of the Powell-Cotton Museum. Date: 1916
