Located in Wath upon Dearne, near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, this coal mine was a vital part of Britain's coal industry during the mid-20th century. Originally established in 1876, the colliery underwent significant expansion in 1912 to access higher quality coal from the Park Gate seam.
