EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning painting by renowned military artist Malcolm Greensmith captures the amalgamation of four historic regiments to form The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in 1968. The top left image showcases the Lancashire Fusiliers, distinguished by their red and green facings and the leopard's head on their cap badge. To their right, the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers are depicted, identified by their yellow facings and the boar's head on their cap badge. The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, represented in the top right corner, are recognized by their green facings and the castle and lion on their cap badge. In the bottom left corner, the Royal Fusiliers (City of London) are shown, characterized by their blue facings and the tower bridge on their cap badge. The soldiers are depicted in their full dress uniforms, proudly bearing their regimental colours. The amalgamation of these four regiments marked a significant moment in British military history, bringing together the rich traditions and heritage of each regiment to create a new and formidable force. This painting is a testament to the enduring legacy of these regiments and the bravery and dedication of the soldiers who have served under their colours.
