EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a momentous event in music history as The Who took the stage at the Lanchester Polytechnic Students Union building. In an effort to provide an unforgettable experience, the band requested a new stage be built, costing £100. However, due to safety restrictions imposed by the police, limiting the number of attendees, the Students Union faced a significant financial loss. Despite this setback, The Who's electrifying performance left everyone in awe. Bob Jones, the social secretary of the Students Union and mastermind behind organizing this iconic concert, expressed his utmost satisfaction with how everything unfolded. Little did he know that this night would become even more memorable for him personally. As fate would have it, The Who joined Bob in celebrating his 21st birthday after their exhilarating show. The date was November 28th, 1970 - an era defined by its vibrant music scene and cultural revolution. This photograph from Memory Lane Prints transports us back to those extraordinary times when bands like The Who were shaping rock 'n' roll history. Immerse yourself in nostalgia as you gaze upon this snapshot frozen in time: four legendary musicians pouring their hearts out on stage while students revelled in every note. Let your imagination wander through Coventry's entertainment scene of yesteryears and relish in the magic created by these musical pioneers who forever changed our perception of live performances.
