EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time with this photograph of the Archer Public House in Whitfield, Kent, as it looked in the 1960s. The image, taken in 1961, showcases the traditional facade of the pub with its distinctive signage and red-brick exterior. The Archer, located at CT16 3LG, was once a proud addition to the Brakspear Pub Company's extensive portfolio. As you gaze at this photograph, you can almost hear the clinking of glasses and the lively chatter of patrons enjoying a pint or two. The Trading Record on the reverse of the print reveals that the Archer was under the management of Brakspear and Co. Limited as early as 1960 and continued to be a part of their business until at least 1963. This photograph is a testament to the rich history of pub culture in Whitfield and Kent during the 1960s. It is essential to note that this image is not to be used for commercial purposes but is instead a valuable piece of social and historical documentation. The National Brewery Heritage Trust, in collaboration with Mary Evans Prints Online, is proud to preserve and share such treasures with us, allowing us to appreciate the charm and character of our past.
