Aristide Bruant (6 May 1851 - 10 February 1925) was a French cabaret singer, songwriter, comedian, and nightclub owner. The singer has been immortalised by Toulouse Lautrec who portrayed him with this same red scarf, black cape and hat. Bruant was known for insulting his audience.
