This print from the Liszt Collection showcases a mesmerizing artwork titled "Three Muses seated underneath flying putto gestures downward". The composition, designed by Francesco Primaticcio for the Ulysses Gallery's ceiling in Fontainebleau, is unfortunately no longer intact as it was destroyed between 1738 and 1739. The image depicts three muses gracefully seated beneath a flying putto who gestures downwards. The cruciform arrangement of the figures adds depth and symmetry to the scene. This particular print is one of eight compositions in a series that captures the essence of Primaticcio's original designs. Giorgio Ghisi, an Italian artist hailing from Mantua, created this engraving on a cut-out sheet measuring approximately 10 13/16 x 6 5/8 inches (27.4 x 16.9 cm). The print has been meticulously trimmed to highlight every intricate detail of the artwork. Francesco Bologna, another renowned Italian artist active during the mid-16th century, inspired this piece with his unique style and creativity.
