EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Chris McEvoy captures the essence of the iconic Austin 7 DR 9295 at the Goodwood Revival in September 2022. The Austin 7, introduced in July 1922, was a groundbreaking family car that revolutionized affordable transportation. Its official horsepower designation of "7" allowed it to fall into a low tax category, making it an attractive option for many families. However, what truly sets this particular Austin 7 apart is its clever engineering and impressive power output. Despite its small size and a modest engine displacement of only 747cc (45.6 cu in), this vintage beauty boasts an astonishing actual power nearing 10.5hp—a testament to the ingenuity of its creators. Surrounded by other classic cars and immersed in nostalgia, spectators are transported back to a time when racing was pure and exhilarating. As we gaze upon this photo print, we can't help but be captivated by the heritage and charm exuded by these historic vehicles. They represent not just a mode of transportation but also an era filled with excitement and passion for motor sport.
